Some 1,406, 559 candidates took their KCPE exams and about 1.2 million did the KPSEA exams (Grade 6) between October 30 and November 1, marking the end of the 8-4-4 education system in primary schools.
Candidates will get results on their phones by sending their index number followed by the word KCPE to the code 40054. They will be charged Ksh. 25 per SMS.
For instance, if a candidate’s Index number is 123456789, they will send 123456789 KCPE to 40054.
Some 8,523 candidates scored above 400 marks while 352,782 candidates had between 300 and 399 marks. The 200-299 bracket had the most candidates at 658,278, while 38,3025 others scored between 100 and 199 marks.
Those with less than 99 marks were 2,060.
Headteachers of the respective schools can pick the KCPE results from sub-county education centres and also download and print their students’ results from the KNEC online portal (www.knec-portal.ac.ke).
