Road users on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway experienced a 12-hour traffic standstill that forced many of them to spend the night on the road.
The traffic, which started at around 6 p.m. on Friday, cleared at around 11 a.m. on Saturday. However, the cause has not been established since there was no accident reported during the standstill.
Following this incident, most of the drivers and passengers have explained the losses they incurred due to the wasted time during the traffic delay.
Locals are calling on the government to speed up the plan to upgrade the Nairobi-Nakuru highway to a dual carriageway as a way to reduce the traffic on that road.
In the past, similar occurrences have been reported, attributed partly to an increase in the number of road users and seasonal high traffic
