Musician Iyanii has come out to refute claims that he and ex-girlfriend Shes Kemunto are back together, barely 24 hours after Kemunto posted on Instagram suggesting a reconciliation.
In an Instagram statement on Monday, March 9, 2026 responding to the widely circulated post, Iyanii clarified that he has not renewed any contract and is not involved in any agreement suggesting a reunion. He emphasised that he is not aware of the post that circulated and has no part in it.
The musician also urged fans and the public not to spread rumours about his relationship with Shes Kemunto, stressing that the claims of a rekindled romance are false.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I have not renewed any contract and am not renewing, nor am I involved in any contract. The post circulated yesterday, but I am not aware of it or involved in it. RUMORS DON’T SPREAD!!! DON’T SPREAD!!! DON’T SPREAD!!!” he said.
Kemunto’s post sparks speculation
Kemunto, on the other hand, shared a playful video on Sunday, March 8, 2026, showing the couple being cosy together.
In the post, she jokingly referenced their previous breakup and referred to the relationship as a “contract,” suggesting that a renewed contract had been granted despite their earlier split.
“By the way, ni nani ule alisema contract iliisha? Nimepewa ingine ya mwisho… poleni kwa ingine,” she wrote.
Kemunto’s playful post came after a breakup announced in February, following about four months of dating. At the time, she described their relationship as meaningful and credited Iyanii with helping her gain a new perspective on love and personal growth.
Speaking in an interview at the time, she explained that the breakup was amicable and that the two had simply realised they had different interests.
The couple has previously attracted significant attention, with Kemunto once urging Iyanii to marry her quickly, and Iyanii making headlines for openly sharing his decision to remain celibate until marriage.
