I can’t play one game a month – Maguire warns Ten Hag about Man Utd future

Manchester United defender, Harry Maguire has threatened to leave the Premier League club in January if he continues in a bit-part role under manager Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag replaced Maguire as captain of the team before the new season kicked off.

The England international was handed his first start in the league against Brentford with six other defenders injured.

He celebrated by setting up Scott McTominay’s winner in a 2-1 win last Saturday.

However, the 30-year-old faces a return to the bench once the likes of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez are fit again.

“I am not going to sit here all my life and play once a month. If it carries on I am sure myself and the club will sit down and have a chat about things.

“It’s not my decision whether I start the next game for United or not. In a couple of weeks, I’ll go back and find out,” Maguire said, ahead of England’s double-header against Australia on Friday and Italy on Tuesday.
