Award-winning Kenyan musician Vivianne Wambui Ndirangu has opened up about her spiritual beliefs, challenging traditional depictions of God and emphasising a more personal and expansive understanding of divinity.
Speaking during a candid conversation with media personality Alex Mwakideu, in an episode aired on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Vivianne said that she does not believe God is a white man in heaven.
She also reflected on her Sunday school days and the common images of Jesus often seen on walls, noting that many people believe that God is white and the actor who played the role of Jesus in many movies is actually Jesus.
“I trust in God, I just do not believe God is a white man in heaven, vile tulikuwa tunaambiwa Sunday school ama ile picha ya Jesus inakuwanga kwa ukuta, huyo ni actor. But many people believe that that is God,” Vivianne explained.

Vivianne emphasised that her belief in God is far from traditional or confined to physical representations.
“I do believe in God, but I believe God is so much bigger than all of us, and you cannot describe it, and we are constantly cocreating, ametupatia free will lakini pia anatuguide,” she added.
Vivviane on heaven
The singer also shared her perspective on heaven, life and purpose, encouraging people to focus on what truly matters.
“I believe you can make your heaven here on earth. I believe in what is more important because hakuna mtu ashawai kufa alafu akarudi kutuambia. I believe in the life we have here on earth; we need to do our role, and we need to figure out who we are and what drives us,” Vivianne noted.
She added that self-discovery and mindfulness are central to her spiritual practice.

“I believe there is much more to discover about who we are as human beings, and it is not a coincidence that we are human beings, we are not doing; we are beings, and we do not have to overdo it to be worthy of love or want to be in this life,” she added.
The Chachisha hitmaker also shared her personal rituals when it comes to praying.
“I do pray, I sit with my thoughts, I meditate and lay an intention,” Vivianne shared.
