American music legend, Janet Jackson, left many surprised after saying she doesn’t see herself as a musical icon.
The 58-year-old superstar made the statement while receiving the Icon Award at the 51st American Music Awards held on May 26, 2025, at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas.
According to Janet, she and her famous family, including her late brother Michael Jackson, never set out to chase fame — they simply had a deep love for music.
“I don’t consider myself to be an icon. My family, myself — our dreams were never to be famous. We weren’t raised like that,” she said.
“We always had special love for music, dancing and singing. Fame came with the result of hard work and dedication.”
Her statement has sparked conversations online, with many praising her humility despite her decades-long impact on the global music scene.
The Jackson family is widely regarded as one of the most influential families in music history. From The Jackson 5 to solo legends like Michael and Janet, the family has produced some of the biggest stars in the industry.
Janet’s career spans over 40 years with global hits like Rhythm Nation, That’s The Way Love Goes, and Together Again.
