Media personality Kalekye Mumo has flaunted her new look after her weight loss journey, opening up about how the physical transformation has changed the way she sees herself.
Kalekye shared photos of herself dressed in office pants, a silk top, heels and a pixie wig, admitting she was surprised by her own appearance.
“Because honestly… I have never looked like this before,” Mumo said, adding that she found herself looking in the mirror and thinking, “Girl… you look GOOD!!”
The media personality said the outfit gave her a different perspective of herself and reignited her interest in fashion.
“There are clothes you wear. And then there are clothes that make you see yourself differently. This was one of those moments for me,” she said.
Kalekye on body transformation
Kalekye said the biggest change for her was not simply losing weight but developing a different relationship with her body.
“And yes, I know when you look at these pictures, the first thing you may notice is the physical transformation. But for me, the most exciting part isn’t simply that I’ve lost weight. It’s that I’m experiencing myself differently,” she said.
She added that she was now wearing clothes she had previously never imagined herself wearing and enjoying what she sees in the mirror.
“I’m looking in the mirror and actually enjoying what I see. I’m feeling lighter, stronger, more confident and, quite frankly… I’m having a little too much fun with this version of me!” Kalekye said.
The media personality also described the experience as one that made her feel beautiful, confident and comfortable in her body.
“I felt beautiful. I felt confident. I felt sexy. And I felt so comfortable in my body that I actually wanted to PLAY with fashion again,” she said.
Kalekye details weight loss journey
Kalekye revealed that her transformation was not achieved through willpower alone, saying she has received professional support throughout the journey.
“And I also know that getting here wasn’t just about willpower or deciding I wanted to lose weight,” she said.
She disclosed that her journey has been medically supervised, with doctors, nutritionists and sports scientists helping her understand her body, nutrition and the steps she needed to take to become healthier.
“My journey has been medically supervised from the beginning with the incredible team at Evolve Well Metabolic Clinic, including my doctors, nutritionists & sports scientists led by Dr Caroline Mithi, who have helped me understand my body, my nutrition and what I needed to do to get healthier,” Kalekye said.
She also acknowledged the creative team behind her latest photoshoot, including the stylist, makeup artist, wig stylist and photographer.
Reflecting on her transformation, Mumo jokingly imagined what her body would say while looking at the new photos.
“So if my body could talk while looking at these pictures, I think she’d probably say, ‘Well. NOW you’re showing me off!’” she said.
“And you know what? “She’s absolutely right,” Kalekye added.
