Saboti Member of Parliament, Caleb Amisi, has expressed alarm after four individuals in civilian attire arrived at his home in Kitale, reportedly using a police land cruiser.
The MP questioned the need for civilians to visit his residence without proper identification.
“4 people in civilian using a police land cruiser came to my home Kitale looking for me. Why come to someone’s residence in civilian? And refused to identify themselves,” Amisi lamented.
In response, he issued a stern warning, stating that he would treat anyone visiting his home in civilian clothing, claiming to be a police officer, as an armed robber.
“Let me warn anyone visiting my home in civilian uniform purporting to be a police officer, I will treat you as an armed robber because such times are when robbers take advantage and pretend to be police,” he said.
Amisi claimed that the state was using police to harass members of parliament allied to the opposition.
“In any case, police should not be brought into politics of harassing MPs who were elected on opposition parties. It is a democracy and we must allow it or disband it,” he concluded.
The lawmaker’s concerns arise amidst recent incidents involving the arrests of political figures such as Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and self-declared Bunge la Mwanchi President Calvin Gaucho just ahead of the planned three-day demonstrations by the Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition.
These developments have sparked debates surrounding the potential use of security forces for political purposes.
Senator Ledama Olekina has also come forward, claiming that eight officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited his premises in search of him.
Alongside these allegations, members of the coalition have raised concerns about the alleged abduction of Azimio leader’s private bodyguard Maurice Ogeta.
