ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan Awarded Honorary Law Degree At Mt Kenya University

International Criminal Court prosecutor Karim Khan has received an honorary Law degree at Mt Kenya University for his community outreach work and fight against terror.

National Assembly leader Moses Wetangula who was the guest of honor during the event described him as a reputable person who has always supported emancipation.

“Congratulate Mr. Karim Khan who received an Honorary Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa). He has built a reputation for his community outreach work that he undertakes in support of social emancipation through education as well as for his fight against terrorism,” he stated.

Khan who took over from Fatou Bensouda as the ICC Prosecutor in June 2021, represented President William Ruto in the 2017 post-election violence case at the Hague.

The then deputy president had been sued alongside former president Uhuru Kenyatta at the ICC court over the post-election violence.

ICC threw out the case against President Ruto citing insufficient evidence. Khan has also represented son of Libyan former leader Muammar Gaddafi, Saif Al Islam.

Among his many achievements in vast resume, Khan has also served as an Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations as the first Special Adviser and Head of the United Nations Investigative team.
