Liverpool talisman, Mohamed Salah, has admitted he is “frightened” about returning to the club after his holidays.

Salah opened up on his emotions in a tribute to team-mate Diogo Jota, who died in a car crash on Thursday.

Jota was on his way to the UK, when the car he was travelling in burst into flames.

The 28-year-old died alongside his younger brother, Alex Silva.

Salah wrote: “I am truly lost for words.

“Until yesterday, I never thought there would be something that would frighten me of going back to Liverpool after the break.

“Team mates come and go but not like this. It’s going to be extremely difficult to accept that Diogo won’t be there when we go back.

“My thoughts are with his wife, his children, and of course his parents who suddenly lost their children. Those close to Diogo and his brother Andre need all the support they can get. They will never be forgotten.”

Jota and Salah had been teammates since the Portuguese joined from Wolves in 2020.

During that time, they won the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL and secured a spot in the 2022 Champions League final.
