The ruling in a murder case involving former TV journalist Jackie Maribe and her ex-fiancé Joseph Irungu alis Jowie, has again been postponed.

In arriving at the decision, the court cited issues with the presentation and documentation of exhibits as the reason for the adjournment.

Originally scheduled for December 15, 2023, the ruling is now set for January 26, 2024.

The postponement had Jackie Maribe, a renowned news anchor, expressing her frustration on social media.

“It needs to stop. Justice delayed is justice denied. Stop putting people’s lives at limbo. I’m tired of this,” protested Maribe.

Maribe and Jowie are battling murder charges in relation to the death of businesswoman Monica Kimani.

Ms Kimani was found dead at her Nairobi apartment on the day she arrived from South Sudan where she was based.

The court heard that her body was recovered at her bath tub with her throat slit.

Jowie and Maribe, who lived together at the time the murder happened, have denied the charges.

After a trial spanning three years, the court ruled that the former lovebirds had a case to answer.

Consequently, Jowie and Maribe were put on their defence.

During the trial, Maribe, who is represented by famous lawyer Katwa Kigen, appeared to confirm that Jowie shot himself at her Lang’ata home, where they both lived, after an argument, at around the time Kimani was found dead.

The court issued Maribe with stringent bail conditions.

Among other terms, she was told not to read news and interview anyone in relation to the case, during the time of the trial.

Meanwhile, one of the witnesses in the case, Chief Investigating Officer Maxwell Otieno, appeared to placed Jowie at the scene of murder at Lamuria Gardens on the night Ms Irungu is believed to have been murdered.

The witness told court that Jowie, a private security guard who was consistently spotted alongside high flying personalities including politicians, was captured leaving the scene of the murder, a middle income residential estate in Nairobi at around 2335 hours.
