Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang’ has opined that impeaching Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is a wrong political move that should be avoided.
In his view, ousting Gachagua from office will have a detrimental effect on the political landscape handing him an unwarranted prominence.
Speaking on Citizen TV’s Daybreak show on Monday, Kajwang’ noted that Gachagua’s tribal politics rhetoric will be reinforced once he is ejected from office.
On his part, Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku noted that there are legitimate intentions to impeach DP Gachagua, arguing that no motion has been filed before the National Assembly.
“That is all rumours up to now. There is a process laid down under the constitution and our standig orders and I have not seen such a process at the moment. Those are street rumours and we do not need to discuss that,” noted Ruku.
Speculations to oust the second in command have been heaping as a few political quotas have been rumored to be hatching a plot to have him sent home.
Reports have indicated that the move to impeach Gachagua are on the grounds of undermining the presidency.
Gachagua has however stated that he is willing to exit from office if the decision is agreed upon.
Speaking during a roundtable interview with media outlets from the Mt.Kenya region on Sunday, Gachagua said that he is not fazed by individuals who oppose his political views and he will not shy from administering his constitutional mandate.
“I did not give myself this position. I was elected by the people and things can never be the way they were in the previous government. I cannot live on my own unless they chase me. I would just take my property here (Karen residence) and take it back home,” he said.
