Detectives from the DCI’s Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) have arrested two individuals, a driver and his assistant, in connection with a suspected human trafficking ring. The operation, which took place at Makupa Bridge, led to the rescue of 17 people believed to be victims of human trafficking.

Following a tip from the public, the detectives apprehended Richard Mbeke, the driver, and his turnboy, Joseph Ndungu. During the operation, the officers discovered seventeen Ethiopian men in an Isuzu lorry with registration number KCL 849M.

All individuals involved, including the trafficking suspects and the rescued victims, are scheduled to be arraigned in a Mombasa court on Thursday morning.
