Police are investigating the cause of a fire that ravaged a children’s home in the Kamulu area of Nairobi, resulting in significant destruction.

The fire erupted at the Made In The Streets Children’s Home on Sunday evening.

According to the police, there were 34 boys at the home during the incident, and all were accounted for.

The management reported that the fire started in the Ndovu dormitory before an alarm was raised to prevent its spread.

A fire engine from Nairobi County responded and successfully contained the blaze.

Police stated that property of unknown value was destroyed in the fire.

In a separate incident, a long-distance bus was burned along Haile Selassie Avenue, Nairobi.

The bus had arrived from Busia with passengers when it suddenly caught fire on Sunday night around 11 pm.

Police reported that the driver had parked the bus for the passengers to alight when the fire broke out.

A fire engine responded and managed to contain the fire.

Officials are still determining the cause of the fire. All passengers on board were rescued.

Meanwhile, police officers were injured in a fire at their house at the Karen Plains Station in Karen, Nairobi.

Two iron sheet houses belonging to two officers were damaged in the incident on Sunday, July 21, police said.

Police reported that nothing was salvaged from the scene.

One officer suffered slight burns on his legs and was taken to the hospital.

A Ceska pistol and a pocket phone belonging to one of the officers were burned in the incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and police are making arrangements to find an alternative place for the officers.
