On Saturday evening, two people were killed instantly and one was critically injured in a head-on collision between two private vehicles along Embu-Makutano Road in Kirinyaga.

One vehicle was traveling from Ngurubani to Embu, while the other was en route from Embu to Makutano. Witnesses reported hearing a loud crash and arriving at the scene to find two deceased individuals and one person severely injured.

The injured person was taken to Mwea Mission Hospital, where they were admitted in critical condition. The bodies of the deceased were transported to the hospital morgue, and the damaged vehicles were towed to Wang’uru Police Station.

Police have urged drivers to exercise increased caution, particularly when driving at night. Local residents described the area as a known black spot and have called on the government to install speed bumps to prevent such accidents.
