On Tuesday, a 12-year-old boy carried out a stabbing attack at a school in Azambuja, Portugal, injuring six classmates. The victims, aged 12 to 14, included a 12-year-old girl who was seriously wounded with stab wounds to the chest and head.

The attack, which took place about 50 kilometers north of Lisbon, has prompted the arrest of the alleged attacker. Police are investigating the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident.

Prime Minister Luis Montenegro condemned the attack as an “isolated act” and emphasized the need for reflection on public safety. The incident was also denounced by the Portuguese president and the education ministry.
