Team Kenya’s quest for medals on the track kicks off this Friday afternoon as the track and field events begin at the renowned Stade de France in Paris.

As the athletics events get underway, Team Kenya’s athletes are ready to make their mark and bring pride to the nation.

Friday’s Events for Team Kenya:
12:10 PM – Men’s 1500m Preliminaries
Tokyo 2020 Olympic silver medalist Timothy Cheruiyot, hailing from Sing’orwet in Bomet County, will lead Kenya’s efforts as they aim for semi-final spots. He will be joined by rising star and World Under-20 1500m champion Reynold Cheruiyot from nearby Tarakwa in Bomet County, as well as Africa Champion Brian Komen.

“My training has been okay and I’m ready to compete against my rivals. Last year at the World Championships was a bit tricky for me, but I thank God for making the final. I was not used to running for two consecutive days, which affected my performance in Budapest,” Reynold Cheruiyot remarked.

Western Bulls Rugby Club has set high expectations as they enter the second round of the National Sevens Circuit, the KRU Ingo 7s, scheduled for August at the ASK Kakamega Showgrounds.

Commonly known as ‘Echulusi,’ the team aims to establish their presence and make a significant impact in the tournament, despite having a relatively young squad with only four experienced players.

The Kakamega-based club finds itself in Pool A, which includes their neighbors and arch-rivals Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST RFC), hosts Kabras RFC, and Kenya University’s Blak Blad RFC—a grouping referred to as the ‘pool of death.’

After naming the squad, team manager Erastus Wanyama spoke to Citizen Digital, expressing his confidence in the team’s ability to perform well.

“We have been working tirelessly to refine our strategies and build cohesion within the team. The players are highly motivated and eager to put up a strong performance,” Wanyama stated.
He further highlighted the importance of the tournament for the team’s growth and exposure.

“The KRU Ingo 7s is a crucial platform for us. It will give our players a chance to compete at a high level and gain invaluable experience,” Wanyama added.
Bulls missed the opening round of the national sevens circuit, Christie 7s, which was won by Kabras.
