Reigning champions the USA will face Nigeria, who have made history as the first African nation to reach the quarter-finals of the Paris Olympics women’s basketball competition, on Wednesday following the draw held on Sunday. Nigeria achieved this milestone by defeating Canada 79-70, while the USA secured their spot by beating Germany 87-68, led by Jackie Young with 19 points and A’ja Wilson with 14 points.

In other quarter-final matchups, host nation France, the bronze medalists from the Tokyo Games three years ago, will take on Germany, while Spain will face Belgium. The day will kick off with Serbia going up against Australia. The knockout stages of the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments will take place in Paris after the group stage was held near Lille.
