Five people, among them an infant, were killed a road crash at Mbaruk area in Gilgil along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.
Among them were two men, two women, and a small child
According to Nakuru County Traffic Enforcement Officer Allan Ogolla, all five fatalities – two men, two women and the infant were in a private car.
The driver was reportedly overtaking several vehicles when he collided head-on with an oncoming long-distance truck. The force of the impact pushed the saloon vehicle into a trailer.
Ogolla confirmed they all died on the spot.
The scene led to hours of traffic gridlock as authorities worked to clear the highway by late evening.
“We urge drivers to be extra cautious—especially on this stretch which has so far led to deaths,” Ogolla said.
