A fire incident occurred early Wednesday morning, October 23, at Equity Bank’s Othaya Branch, with reports indicating that the blaze began around 1:30 AM.

In a statement released on the same day, the bank detailed that the fire was triggered by an alert from the fire detection system. Upon receiving the alarm, Wells Fargo, the Nyeri fire department, and local police responded quickly to the scene. Their swift action helped extinguish the fire and prevent further damage. The bank expressed its gratitude to the emergency services for their prompt response, noting, “Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries, and the situation has been managed effectively.”

In light of the incident, Equity Bank notified its customers of how to access banking services during this disruption. The bank encouraged customers of the Othaya branch to visit alternative branches, specifically the Kiria-ini, Nyeri, or Mukurweini branches, to meet their banking needs.

Additionally, the bank emphasized various digital options available for customers to manage their accounts effectively. These methods include:

– USSD Code: Dial *247#
– Equitel
– Mobile App
– Online Banking
– Cards or ATMs

Equity Bank reassured its customers that their safety and continuity of service remain top priorities, stating, “The bank is committed to providing reliable banking services, even in the face of unforeseen events like this fire.”

As the situation unfolds, Equity Bank will continue to keep customers informed about any changes to branch operations or available services. Customers are encouraged to stay updated through the bank’s official communication channels.
