Details of a daring daylight robbery in Narok County have emerged, revealing how a man was relieved of Sh1.5 million just moments after he withdrew the substantial amount from a local bank.

Authorities are now investigating the incident, with suspicions that it may involve an inside job.

On October 17, 2023, the victim visited a local bank in Narok town, where he withdrew a hefty sum of money.

He stashed the cash in his bag and began driving towards the Kenya Industrial Estate. However, his plans took a nightmarish turn when he decided to stop to answer a phone call.

According to a police report, the man received repeated calls from a new phone number, prompting him to pull over and answer the call. As he stepped out of his vehicle to take the call, two men from a car closely trailing him quickly exited their vehicle.

The assailants wasted no time and headed directly for the man’s motor vehicle, where they forcibly grabbed the bag containing the money. Without any hesitation, they raced back to their own vehicle and made a swift escape.

The victim was left in shock as he watched the thieves’ car speed away, unable to react in time to prevent the theft. After regaining his composure, he promptly reported the incident to the local authorities, detailing how he was robbed.

As part of their investigation, the police visited the scene of the crime and interviewed the victim.

Another team was dispatched to the bank to gather further information related to the incident.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and the stolen money remains unrecovered. The authorities are treating this as the latest in a series of such incidents reported in the area.

This incident recalls a similar case in August when a gang targeted two employees who had just left a bank in Kisii.

The victims, who were in possession of Sh1 million, intended to use the money to clear some pending bills when they were ambushed and robbed.

According to the victims, they had left the bank and were en route to Kisii-Nyatieko aboard a sedan.

However, their journey was abruptly halted at Egesa River, where they were confronted by another sedan carrying three individuals armed with pistols.

The armed robbers ordered the victims to hand over the cash, which was in envelopes, before fleeing the scene.
