Police officers from the Silibwet police station are investigating an incident involving the discovery of a male body dumped in Mau Forest.

The body was found by two young boys exploring the Masese area of the forest, as reported by local chief Richard Cheruiyot. According to the chief, the body was concealed in tall grass, and the boys notified nearby livestock herders who then alerted the authorities.

He stated that the body showed no visible injuries and was subsequently taken to Longisa Hospital Mortuary by police from the Silibwet station.

“Over the past two years, 25 bodies have been discovered in this forest. Most of these victims have been boda boda riders; some were identified by relatives, while others remain unknown. We do not know who the perpetrators are,” he added.

The chief also cautioned the public and boda boda operators to be vigilant, especially when using the Silibwet-Olenguruone road that traverses the forest during nighttime.

In response to the incident, boda boda operators, led by county chair Alexander Rono, called on police to increase night patrols in the area.
