Isiolo governor vows to empower girls with education in the county

Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to empowering girls through education, saying investment in learning facilities is key to unlocking the future of communities and the nation at large.

The governor made the remarks while joining residents of Kinna at a fundraising event at Algani Girls Secondary School to support the development of much-needed school infrastructure.

The initiative seeks to improve learning facilities and create a safe, supportive and conducive environment where girls can thrive academically and realise their full potential.

Speaking during the event on Saturday, February 7, 2026, the governor underscored the importance of prioritising girls’ education, noting that empowering girls through quality education translates into stronger families, resilient communities and sustainable development.

“This noble initiative is about strengthening learning facilities and ensuring our girls have a safe and enabling environment to pursue their education. Investing in girls’ education is an investment in the future of our communities and our nation,” he said.

The fundraiser brought together a wide range of national and regional leaders, led by the Chief Guest, Farouk Kibet, and UDA Party Secretary-General, Hassan Omar. Also present were Isiolo County MP Hon. Mumina Bonaya, Marsabit Senator Mohamed Chute, Mohamed Abdikadir (Lagdera), Abdirahman Mohamed (Lafey), Mwengi Mutuse (Kibwezi), Emmanuel Wamgwe (Navakholo), Dido Raso (Saku), Guyo Jaldesa (Moyale), Aden Keynan (Eldas) and Amina Dika (Tana River).

Others in attendance included the Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly, Abdullahi Banticha, Osman Galole (Tana River), former governors Godana Doyo (Isiolo) and Hussein Dado (Tana River), as well as KURRTH CEO Zeinab Gura.

The governor commended all leaders, partners, parents and community members who turned up in solidarity to support the initiative, describing their participation as a strong show of collective responsibility toward educating girls.

“Together, we will continue to champion education and empower our girls with the opportunities they deserve,” he said.
