A sitting Member of County Assembly (MCA) from Isiolo is among two people who have been arrested over possession of 57 stones of bhang.

The two suspected drug traffickers have been identified as 27-year-old Chari Ward MCA Abdillahi Golicha Meja and his 25-year-old accomplice Nura Abdi Diba.

Detectives from the DCI said the two were arrested on the outskirts of Isiolo Town by officers from the Transnational Organized Crimes Unit working jointly with a multi-agency team.

The two were flagged down while driving a Toyota Land Cruiser registration number KDG 034G, before the team proceeded to Nura Abdi Diba’s house at Kambi Garba Estate in the outskirts of Isiolo.

Police said six gunny bags containing the 57 stones of bhang were found stashed in the house.

The authorities added that the exhibits have since been taken to DCI headquarters for further processing as a probe into the matter gets underway.
