First Lady Rachel Ruto has expressed sorrow and condemnation following the discovery of the mutilated bodies of young women dumped in Kware, Mukuru slums.
In a statement on X, the First Lady highlighted that no one should undergo such cruelty.
“Each of these women was someone’s child, sister or friend and no one should undergo such cruelty. Violence against women must end in our country,” she said.
Rachel Ruto extended her heartfelt condolences and prayers to the families of the victims, emphasizing the profound grief no parent should endure.
“Our condolences and prayers go out to the families of the victims. No parent should ever have to bury their child, especially under such circumstances,” she stated.
As of now, 11 bodies have been recovered, and the search continues today (Sunday).
President William Ruto instructed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Saturday to accelerate the investigation into the deaths of Kenyans whose bodies were discovered in a quarry in Mukuru, Nairobi.
He assured that those responsible for these mysterious killings would face justice, emphasizing that the government does not tolerate extrajudicial killings.
Ruto stated, “All those involved in this heinous act of killing young Kenyans will face the full force of the law,” noting that such killings violate constitutional and human rights principles.
Several women MPs also denounced the brutal murders of women by unknown assailants. Mombasa Woman Representative Zamzam Mohammed urged security agencies to take decisive action and ensure the perpetrators are apprehended. She called on President William Ruto to urgently address these matters as the leader of the nation.
“I want to ask the President; you are the one in charge of the country. Women have been murdered. Mothers are being brutally killed, I am asking you as the father of this nation to address this matter and we as mothers want to see that all those who have committed this act are caught,” she said.
The Woman Rep called on all security institutions to take charge and bring perpetrators to book.
