Her lifeless body was discovered at her residence in Lamuria Gardens on September 20, 2018.
Kimani’s tragic demise occurred shortly after her return from Juba, South Sudan, where she managed a family enterprise.
Both Maribe and Irungu have been formally charged with the crime of murder. Despite the allegations, they both pleaded not guilty.
Maribe was granted release on October 30, 2018, upon posting a cash bail of Ksh1 million, following a month in legal custody.
Conversely, her former fiancé did not share the same fate, enduring over 500 days of detainment.
Ultimately, he was granted a cash bail of Ksh2 million by High Court Judge, James Wakiaga, on February 13, 2020.
On March 29, 2023, the judge declared that the prosecution had successfully demonstrated, beyond a reasonable doubt, the involvement of the pair in the murder of Kimani.
“After evaluating the evidence on record and all the documentary material placed before me by the parties. I find that the accused with a case to answer. Accordingly, they are placed on their defence,” Justice Nzioka ruled.
