Media personality and former Kiss FM presenter Jalang’o has sparked a serious conversation among working Kenyans after delivering a pointed message about the dangers of depending entirely on a monthly salary.
The remarks came during a candid outdoor interview on the Over 1M Podcast, hosted by Tony Mwirigi.

Jalang’o challenges the salaried mindset
Jalang’o did not hold back when he turned his attention to the realities of employment. He pointed out that a year has 365 days, yet most salaried workers only receive income 12 times within that period. For him, that arrangement is simply unacceptable.
“Sikubali kulipwa mara kumi na mbili kwa mwaka,” he said, which translates to: “I don’t accept being paid only 12 times a year.”
He went on to urge Kenyans not to allow themselves to be trapped by the comfort of a small salary, describing employment income as a kind of chain holding people back from building something of their own.
His advice was direct: find ways to generate income beyond your pay cheque, and do not allow a steady but limited salary to become a ceiling on your ambitions
