COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli gave Kenyans a rare peek inside his Kilifi home after hosting a political dinner for more than 15 senators at his Bofa Ocean View residence on the evening of Wednesday, September 24, 2026.
Atwoli shared the news on X, posting a photo of the gathering alongside a caption explaining that the senators were in Kilifi County for the ongoing Senate Mashinani programme, a devolution initiative that takes Senate proceedings outside Nairobi and into the counties.
A glimpse inside Francis Atwoli’s Kilifi home
The photo offered a striking look at the labour boss’s coastal property.
The dinner appeared to take place in an open-air or partially covered outdoor section of the home, befitting the warm Kilifi evenings.
The setting was elegantly laid out with a long dining table, with guests seated on either side. The table was stocked with food, bottles of water and orange juice, giving the occasion a composed, formal feel rather than a flashy affair.
The backdrop hinted at a well-maintained, spacious compound consistent with the “Ocean View” description, a property that clearly enjoys proximity to the Indian Ocean along the Kilifi coastline.
Atwoli wrote that he took the opportunity to praise the senators for participating in the Mashinani programme, while the group also held discussions around the current political mood in the country.
Here is his post:
Yesterday, I hosted a political dinner for over fifteen (15) senators at my Bofa Ocean View home, in Kilifi county. I lauded these senators for their the Senate Mashinani programme, currently taking place in Kilifi County, even as we discussed the current political climate in the country.

Kenyans react to the senators’ dinner
The post quickly drew attention online, with many commenters fixating less on the dinner itself and more on the apparent absence of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna from the gathering.
@Kenyan_Mbogi wrote:
“I don’t even have to check the photos twice. My H.E. can never attend such an affair.😂😂”
@Authentic_Wayne said:
“Hope H.E. @edwinsifuna was wise as always to skip this.”
@ambetsa06 added:
“Unless Sifuna was in attendance, that was insignificant. Next.”
@CarlitozCyrus kept the tone light:
“I know your target was Sifuna, but he didn’t come. 😂😂😂😂”
@stevenadogo directed criticism at Atwoli himself, writing:
“All your pictures of you are about you enjoying and nothing about the ordinary Kenyan worker.”
@RealToili was equally pointed:
“How will this help a common citizen who doesn’t know where the next meal will come from?”
Atwoli is one of Kenya’s most prominent labour voices and a well-known figure in political circles, frequently hosting high-profile gatherings at his various residences across the country.
