Lang’ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwour, popularly known as Jalang’o, says he is in the dark after being locked out from all ODM communication platforms, including WhatsApp groups.
In an interview with NTV on Monday, July 10, the first-time MP disclosed that he remains in the dark on party affairs and only gets information about the party through hearsay.
He said that his predicaments started after working with President William Ruto.
“Sasa hivi nimetolewa kwa communications zote za chama. So hata kama kuna chochote chama inataka tu support, siwezi jua. Labda upate kuskia kupitia fununu pale bungeni… Ni wakati mgumu kwa maana upo tu kama yatima pale.
(Now I have been excluded from all party communications. So even if there is anything the party wants support on, I won’t know. Maybe you’ll hear about it through rumours in parliament… It’s a difficult time because I feel like an orphan there)” he said.
He added that he does not regret any of his decisions and he will continue working with the Head of State.
“Wale majaji wasaba wote waliposema rais ni William Ruto na baadaye nikaanza kuona maono yake na mambo ambayo anajaribu kufanya, nikasema this is the direction I want to take, I want to work with the President na sitarudi nyuma.
(When all those seven judges said that the President is William Ruto, and later on, I began to see his visions and what he is trying to accomplish, I said, ‘This is the direction I want to take. I want to work with the President and will not turn back’),” he said.
Asked if he would ditch the party that sponsored him, Jalang’o said that he is in the ODM party to stay and had no plans of ditching the party despite working with the president against party wishes.
“Baba Raila Amollo Odinga na chama ya ODM na muungano wa Azimio, sijatoka chama, sipangi kutoka na sitatoka (I will not leave the party and I don not have plans to leave either),” he said.
The former radio presenter stated he was not attempting to betray or disrespect the party or its leadership.
“Isiwe ni vurugu, isiwe ni chochote. Mimi I’m an independent mind na sio kukiuka chama ama dharau yoyote, nimeamua kufanya kazi na Rais William Ruto
(Let it not be chaos, let it not be anything negative. I am an independent mind and do not disregard the party or any form of disrespect. I have decided to work with President William Ruto).”
Last week, Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina asked the ODM renegade MPs who have shown dalliance to the Kenya Kwanza government to resign.
The Narok Senator, who was irked by the State House visit by the ODM legislators, told them to return to the electorate and seek a fresh mandate through Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
“This constant State House visits by rogue ODM legislators who signed a covenant with the people through the party is so grotesque! I wish they would just man up and resign from their positions and seek the people’s mandate through their newfound concubine!” Ole Kina tweeted.
His remarks come hours after MPs Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Tom Ojienda (Kisumu), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), and Mark Nyamita (Uriri), Paul Abuor (Rongo) and Jalang’o had a meeting with President William Ruto in State House.
