President William Ruto has found himself on the receiving end as opposition leaders camped in Nyamira on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

The lineup, which included Wiper’s Kalonzo Musoka, Jubilee’s Fred Matiang’i, Eugene Wamalwa of Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DPAK) and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, had their political ammunition full as they engaged the public.

Speaking in a rally in Nyamira County, Eugene Wamalwa trolled Ruto, claiming that the recent developments are a constant pain for the President.

According to Wamalwa, the overwhelming reception received by the opposition leaders in Nyamira and Kisii, as well as in Bomet, where they addressed a series of roadside rallies, gave Ruto sleepless nights.

Taking Brufen after a sleepless night

He claimed that to minimise the effects, Ruto resorted to taking a popular painkiller.

Jana naskia hakulale naskie alimeza Brufen usiku mzima, bwana. Ameze brufen asimeze?” Wamalwa asked, with the crowds responding affirming their support and making it clear that if support for Wantam causes him pain, then doses of the painkiller should continue.

This loosely translates to: “I hear the guy didn’t sleep last night, he took Brufen the whole night. Should he continue?”

Wamalwa claimed that the wantam wave is unstoppable, with several regions warming up to the message, a clear indication that President Ruto would be defeated in the 2027 elections.

Jana nimetembea Kisii wamesema ni wantam. Jana tumeona Kisii nim baya bwana. Hapa Nyamira ni mbaya. Ambia bwana Zakayo aone ni mbaya (Yesterday we were in Kisii, and they approve wantam message. Things are tough for him in Kisii, just as they are in Nyamira. Tell Zacchaeus that things are tough),” Wamalwa said with the crowd cheering.

The ongoing charm offensive by the opposition has seen the politicians go all-out to discredit Ruto’s record while also accusing those associated with the president of neglecting voters.

Opposition bigwigs go after Ruto

They have exuded confidence of sending Ruto home in 2027, with Wamalwa trolling the president’s recent political tour, launchingthe disbursement of National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) funds.

“Hebu tumwambie apate message yangu vizuri. Wewe Kasongo, at aulete nyota, hat aulete jua, hat aulete mwezi wewe ni wantam,” Wamalwa stated with the crowd chanting”wantam” at every pause.

This loosely translates to: “Let’s make it clear to Kasongo that even if he brings the star, the sun or the moon, you are a wantam president”.
