The 2024 NCBA Golf Series kicked off on Saturday at the 18-hole Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club, drawing over 100 golfers from across the region. The tournament, which is the eighth leg of the series, was played in a medal format, with participants competing for coveted spots in the Grand Finale later this year.
Jean Pierre Smith (handicap 14) claimed the Overall Winner title with an impressive 66 Nett score. Alishaan Merali (handicap 3) was crowned the Gross Winner, posting a strong 77 Gross score.
In Division One, Nguru Wachira (handicap 12) emerged victorious with a 67 Nett score, while Peter Wairegi (handicap 12) finished as Runner-Up with a 73 Nett score.
Division Two saw James Mburu (handicap 19) take the top spot with a 68 Nett score, and Karim Charania (handicap 14) was the Runner-Up with a 71 Nett score.
The Ladies category was won by Tazz Padamshi (handicap 16) with a notable 70 Nett score, and Amar Shah (handicap 9) won the Junior category with a commendable 78 Nett score.
George Kirathe (handicap 16) triumphed in the Guest category with a 69 Nett score.
Additionally, Adan Mohamed and Maria Zeller excelled in the “Nearest to the Pin” shots, while Joshua Maina and Sonia Patel took home the “Longest Drive” awards for Men and Ladies, respectively.
John Guchu, NCBA Bank TRM Branch Manager, remarked at the event:

“From Jean Pierre Smith’s exceptional overall win to the exciting contests in each category, the day was a true testament to the talent and sportsmanship within the Kenyan golfing community.”

In addition to the golfing excitement, NCBA Bank made a significant contribution to environmental sustainability by donating indigenous tree seedlings to Windsor Golf Club. This donation aligns with the bank’s commitment to environmental stewardship, a core element of its ‘Change the Story’ sustainability platform.
Following the Windsor event, the NCBA Golf Series will continue with the Clubnite at Mombasa Golf Club on July 23, before heading to Moi Airbase for a qualifier event on July 27.
