Jubilee party intends to effect leadership changes where Nominated MP Sabina Chege will replace former president Uhuru Kenyatta as the party leader.
In a notice on Wednesday, the party said EALA MP Kanini Kega will also take over as Secretary General from Jeremiah Kioni and Eldas MP Adan Keynan will replace David Murathe in the Deputy chairperson position.
Kitui South MP Rachael Nyamai on the other hand will be replacing Kagwe Gichohi in the national treasurer position.
Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo also takes up the Senate leader position, Lamu Senator Joseph Kamau will also take the Senate Chief Whip position and Nakuru West MP Samuel Arama will be the party’s National Assembly leader.
Chege will remain the party’s National Assembly Chief Whip, Laikipia North MP Sarah Korere as the N.A Deputy Chief Whip and Menengai Ward MCA Wajeff Mwangi as the MCA council chairperson.
Bahati MP Irene Mrembo will serve as a member of the National Executive Committee alongside Margaret Kamar and Jerusha Momanyi.
Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo will serve as the party’s Governor’s Council chairperson.
The new changes come two days after the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal okayed the suspension of Kioni and Murathe as the party officials.
EALA MP Kega also noted that the location of the party’s head office has been changed.
The party likewise announced that there will be a National Delegates Convention (NDC) on August 7, at the Bomas of Kenya to amend the party’s constitution among other matters.
The party had engaged in a long-running battle between the Kega and Kioni-led factions over the party’s leadership.
According to a statement issued on May 2023, Kioni was expelled from the party on grounds of gross misconduct and for failing to respect the party’s organs and carrying out his stipulated duties as Secretary General.
On the other hand, Murathe was axed for gross misconduct while Gichohi was suspended for allegedly refusing to carry out the party’s instructions and not respecting the party’s headquarters.
