Gor Mahia have been knocked out of the FKF Cup after going down 1-0 against Kakamega Homeboyz during their round of 16 clash at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega on Sunday.

Victory put Homeboyz through to the competition’s quarter-finals, joining Tusker, Sofapaka, and Ulinzi Stars who secured their spots on Saturday.

Moses Mudavadi struck the winner in the 56th minute after his deflected shot deceived goalkeeper Gad Matthews and into the back of the net.

Four more games will be played on Sunday to determine the final half of eight quarter-finalists.

There were few scoring chances created on the day, with the FKF Premier League leading scorer Benson Omalla missing a sitter early second half.

Gor Mahia head coach Jonathan Mckinstry sayed he was very disappointed with the results.

“It was an extremely tight and competitive match and we are not pleased with the results, a draw would have been fair for us.” He said.

Kakamega Homeboyz tactician Patrick Odhiambo was happy with the win, saying that the good performance has been realised because of the support the players are getting from the management of the team.
