A man from is being held at Shianda police station in Kakamega County on suspicion of killing his 41-year-old brother over a land dispute.

Mumias East Police Commander Dorris Chemoss said the incident happened at Isongo village.

The deceased, William Anjisu Waswa, had previously confronted his brother Charles Waswa over the issue.

It is reported that William attempted to attack his brother with a machete but was overpowered and shouted for help, attracting neighbors who intervened.

However, the deceased’s family claims that William was a nuisance to the community and has a history of violence, including attacking his own son.

In a twist, the family is instead calling for the government to release the accused, arguing that he was simply trying to defend himself.

Police have urged family members to find better ways to resolve disputes.
