Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Party leader Raila Odinga says Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is under house arrest and detention.

This was also confirmed by Kalonzo’s Communications Director Paloma Gatabki who stated that the former Vice President has indeed been detained at his home since Tuesday evening.

“Representatives of our coalition Hon Opiyo Wandayi and Hon Jeremiah Kioni have today visited Hon Kalonzo Musyoka following his ongoing house arrest and detention,” said Odinga.

Ms. Gatabaki added: “Yes, it is true that Kalonzo Musyoka has been under house arrest since Tuesday evening. The subarus and landrovers have been stationed outside his Karen residence preventing him from leaving.”

The announcement on Kalonzo’s alleged arrest comes after reports emerged that the Wiper Party leader held a closed-door meeting with a group of diplomats from the United Nations, the European Union, the United States, and Denmark.

While Musyoka has not personally spoken on the alleged meeting, several diplomatic-plated vehicles were however seen leaving his Karen home at around midday on Friday.

The agenda of the closed-door session could not be immediately established. However, the supposed meeting comes in the wake of growing concern from foreign nations and organizations over the widespread violence and loss of life during the countrywide anti-government protests led by the Azimio coalition.

Meanwhile, Odinga says he is currently under the weather, “battling a strong strain of flu, hence keeping off public engagements and all meetings.”

“I have therefore held no meeting with any envoys as reported by some media outlets,” said Odinga.
