Kamene Goro is not here for the rumours. The media personality has come out firmly to squash speculation that her marriage to DJ Bonez is over, insisting she is very much taken.

The drama started after Kamene shared a post saying she woke up alone and had also posted a new song she was enjoying. Fans, and gossip pages in particular, ran with it, quickly concluding that she and DJ Bonez had parted ways.

Kamene appeared on a phone-recorded, selfie-style gossip segment hosted by content creator Ankali Ray, known online as the President of Gossipers 254, to set the record straight. The clip quickly went viral.

She was clearly exasperated by the misreading of her posts, telling Ankali directly:

“Your biggest problem is you misinterpret things. I really like the new song. It’s a really dope song. So I posted it because I like that song. And just because I woke up alone and I’m complaining, it also does not mean that I am single; people need to get that right.”

Kamene also took a playful dig at Ankali for only reaching out when there is something scandalous to report.

“Have you ever called me just to check on me, without it being about gossip? You only call me when you want to find out about drama,” she said. Ankali, for his part, promised to do better.

When pressed on whether she and DJ Bonez were still together, she was guarded but firm. She confirmed that the two are currently living apart, with Bonez based in Mombasa while she remains in Nairobi, each managing their own work commitments. Despite the distance, she was clear there is no falling out between them.

“We do not stay together. Bon is in Mombasa and I am in Nairobi. Everyone has their work. We don’t hate each other. Yeah, we respect each other. I think that’s what I can say for now,” she told Ankali.

“I am not available at all,” Kamene says

She shut down any idea that her waking up alone signals she is back on the market, delivering a pointed message to anyone who had started entertaining that thought.

“I have said I’m not single, that is it. People should not… that story went and spread and then everyone now thinks that I am available. I am not available. I want it to be, I am not available at all. Just because I woke up alone does not mean I am single. I’m just saying how I woke up feeling great on my own,” she said.

She also signed off with a moment of gratitude, noting it had been nearly a year since she last worked and expressing thanks for where she finds herself.

Ankali wrapped up the segment with his signature sign-off, noting the file was “not yet closed” but for now, Kamene has spoken.
