Kikuyu gospel singer and philanthropist Karangu Wa Muraya has confirmed being hospitalised after suffering what he described as severe food poisoning during the launch of Ngaruiya Junior’s musical event.
Through a number of Facebook posts on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, Karangu told followers that all has not been okay and that the night had taken a worrying turn for several artistes who attended the show.
“It was a long night. Sijawahi umwa na kichwa na tumbo kama hivyo tena. Above all I thank God,” Karangu posted on Facebook.

Karangu becomes victim of food poisoning
In his posts the musician sounded tired but steady, saying he wanted people to know the situation was real and not the online rumours that had been spreading.
He asked fans to keep checking on those who were present at the event, adding that even Ngaruiya Junior’s daughter had been taken to hospital after developing serious stomach complications.
The concerns over event sickness grew quickly on social media as more Kikuyu artistes admitted they had fallen ill shortly after the Sunday night show.
A few of them mentioned stomach aches and nausea, while others hinted that they had been treated for diarrhoea. Karangu’s own description came across as both honest and a bit shaken.

His message also urged anyone who had a friend at the event to reach out because the situation seemed broader than initially thought.
“If you have a friend who attended last night event of Ngaruiya Junior King Of Kigooco please check on them. I am at the hospital and I am not doing alright,” he has told followers.
Complains of food poisoning
The artist added that Ngaruiya’s daughter was equally unwell, saying she had been rushed to hospital after developing complicated stomach issues.
Ngaruiya Junior King Of Kigooco daughter is also in hospital. Let us pray for everyone who was there,” the musician has posted on Facebook.
The monitoring health concerns around the incident come barely hours after various Kikuyu celebrities confirmed that several of their colleagues had already been admitted.

Some members of the entertainment community said they were still trying to piece together what might have triggered the outbreak.
No official comment has been given yet by the hotel, where the launch took place.
