Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has opened up about her hopes of a polygamous relationship with musician Samidoh, expressing confidence that his wife, Edday Nderitu, will return and agree to share her husband.
Nyamu, who is a mother of three, stated that her primary concern is ensuring that everyone involved ultimately benefits from the situation and that the children have a present and caring father.
She acknowledged the ongoing conversation about her situation, which has led to public scrutiny, but emphasized that matters of the heart cannot be easily planned or controlled.
“It’s not like that. Matters of the heart cannot be planned. I have tried so many times, and you have seen. I tried leaving but failed. What will I do, and there are kids involved? My prayer is that things work out, but I have not lost hope,” Nyamu stated.
She went on to highlight the legality of polygamy in Kenya, emphasizing that it aims to ensure that all children have fathers and women have husbands.
” It’s not a question of wewe ondoka, huyu ingia. Apana. Sio rahisi, it’s not an easy situation,” she said.
Nyamu stressed that it’s not as simple as one person leaving and another entering the relationship, as it’s a complex and emotionally charged situation that requires careful handling.
“It’s not easy. It’s a sensitive situation, and maybe I did not handle it well. There are arguments even for other couples, but ours became public. It is because it is being handled in private, but ours was splashed to the public,” Nyamu explained.
Despite the challenges, Nyamu expressed her unwavering faith that the polygamous marriage will eventually work, emphasizing the importance of having the right intentions and a sincere heart.
“I have faith, even if it takes a year, it will work. Because the heart and intention are in the right place,” she concluded in a candid interview with Radio 47.
Samidoh’s wife Edday had earlier on said she was not ready to bring up her children in a polygamous marriage.
