Kenyan actress Kate Actress, whose real name is Catherine Kamau, and her ex-husband Phil Karanja have officially announced their separation, leaving fans both shocked and curious about the reasons behind the breakup.
In a joint statement posted on Instagram, Kate Actress and Phil revealed that they had ended their marriage, emphasizing their desire for privacy. The statement read, “We came to a conclusion to end our marriage a long while ago and are separated. We sincerely request everyone to honour our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
While the separation may come as a surprise to some, Kate Actress clarified that it was never a secret, but they had chosen to keep it private. She expressed gratitude to their fans for the support they had received over the years.
The announcement also sparked humour from Phil Karanja’s close friend, actor and comedian Abel Mutua, commonly known as Mkuru. Abel posted a satirical statement on his social media, mimicking Kate Actress and Phil’s joint announcement, declaring his own separation from Phil due to “vehicular differences.”
Kate Actress responded hilariously to Abel’s post, calling him out with the playful phrase, “Nugu wewe.” which translates to “you monkey” to refer to him clowning their dire situation.
She has also recently spoken out for the first time since the breakup, thanking fans for their support during this difficult period.
She posted a message on social media that read, “Courage is not the absence of fear… Thank you so much for all the DMs, calls, and texts. Asanteni sana,” expressing her gratitude for the encouraging messages from well-wishers.
In response to Kate’s message, fans flooded her post with supportive comments, commending her strength and resilience during this challenging time.
Meanwhile, a viral video is gaining traction that features an NTV interview from December 2021, for Churchill Show, where Kate Actress candidly discussed her initial encounter with her now ex-husband Phil.
Amusingly, she revealed, “Believe it or not, we didn’t like each other at first.”
Curious, Dan Ndambuki, who was the show host, asked, “Why was that?”
Kate responded, “He thought I was too much, you know! He recognized my talent but was puzzled… like, this lady!”
With a chuckle, she added, “If you had told him that this lady would be your wife… Ahhhh, he would have laughed it off! So, it’s better it happened naturally.”
