A Kenya Defence Force (KDF) officer has been arrested in Homa Bay County for allegedly participating in the brutal murder of a 30-year-old man at Sino village in Rachuonyo South Sub County.
The KDF officer reportedly collaborated with two other men to murder a man identified as Collins Okiro.

The arrest follows a video footage of Okiro that has been circulating on social media platforms when he was being assaulted before his brutal murder, in the video.

Okiro’s eyes were blindfolded using a red piece of cloth that was tied on his face towards the back of his head.

Rachuonyo South Sub- County Police Commander Lilies Wachira says the KDF officer who was in company of his brother and another man went to Okiro’s house at Sino village on April 7 and convinced him to leave with them to a destination that was not clear to his wife.

Wachira says the KDF officer and two other suspects who are still at large went with the deceased to secluded thicket in the area where they assaulted him to death.

Okiro’s wife identified the KDF officer and his brother days later after his murder this made officers from Oyugis police station to start hunting the suspects until they arrested the KDF officer.

The officer is being detained at Oyugis police station as a manhunt for the remaining two suspects in connection with the murder is ongoing.

Out of 527 students, only seven attend Mandongoi School.
When they arrived at the scene, they were astonished to find a cooking pot filled with meat and some vegetables. At the scene, was a human skull and blood-stained clothes as well as the deceased’s gumboots. Police interrogated the suspect on his father’s whereabouts but he noted that he was also unaware as he was still searching for him. The rest of the missing body parts first spotted by the locals was found dumped in a sack and covered with stones inside Nithi River. One of the area residents who claimed that the suspect began digging the tunnel in 2017 stated that the suspect and his victim had an argument about the condition of the tunnel before he went missing. “The two had quarrelled after the man stopped his father from cutting the Napier grass around the tunnel,” Johnson Mutembei a resident told a local publication. The suspect is currently in custody pending arraignment in court to face murder charges. “We have arrested a man who is suspected to have killed his father, cooked part of the body and hidden some in a tunnel,” Muthambi Sub-County Police Commander stated.
