A 23-year-old Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer was at pains in an Eldoret court as he testified against his own father accused of murdering his mother.

Sammy Ndirangu, a youthful military officer recounted to court how his father, Francis Mwangi Ndirangu who is a businessman, used to assault his mother while accusing her of infidelity.

The deceased, 44-year-old Rael Cherop Biwott was an accountant at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) billing section.

Ndirangu told presiding Judge Emily Ominde that his father whom he described as violent and abusive would beat his mother as he accused her of being unfaithful in their marriage.

The KDF officer was testifying against his father in a case where he has denied killing his slain wife on the night of June 22 and 23, 2024 at Shauri estate in Eldoret City.

The mother of four was reported missing on June 23, 2024, and her dismembered body parts were subsequently discovered at multiple locations across Nandi and Uasin Gishu counties on June 24 and June 27, 2024.

According to the court documents, the late Biwott was last seen leaving her workplace on June 22, 2024, around 7 p.m while accompanied by her husband, Francis Mwangi Ndirangu.

However, despite the accused person’s statement where he claimed that they took a matatu home, CCTV footage revealed that they had departed with his slain wife in a Toyota Succeed, a vehicle hired by Ndirangu.

Tragically, Cherop never made it home on the fateful day.

In a sad turn of event, on June 24, around noon, some of Biwott’s dismembered body parts were found stashed in a gunny bag beside a road in Kapsilegaa village, Nandi County.

Later that day, more parts of her body, including her head and upper limbs, were discovered beside a road in Lamaiywet village, Uasin Gishu county.

Despite these gruesome discoveries, it was not until 6:40 p.m. that Ndirangu reported his wife missing at Eldoret Central Police Station.

An autopsy that was conducted on the body of the deceased at MTRH in the presence of family members and legal representatives revealed that Ms Biwott suffered severe neck injuries and blunt force trauma to the head.

The accused has been detained at the Eldoret GK. remand prison after he was denied bond on security grounds.
