Kelvin Kiptum’s Body Leaves Morgue For Funeral Ceremony In Iten

The funeral ceremony of the late marathoner Kelvin Kiptum has commenced.

On Thursday, the cortege left Eldoret Hospital mortuary at 9.00 am, with family and friends gathered to see the final journey of the late Kiptum.

A procession is being held in Eldoret town, after which the convoy will head to Kiptum’s home in Iten.

At Iten, a church service will be held, after which the public will view the body of the late athlete.

Athletes Milcah Chemos Moses Kiptanui, Amos Kipruto, Vivian Cheruiyot and Janet Chepkosgei are among those who have turned up to witness their colleague’s final journey.

Kiptum will be laid to rest at his Naiberi home on Friday. The burial ceremony will be attended by President William Ruto, state dignitaries and dignitaries in the athletics profession.

The world record holder was killed in a road crash on February 11, 2024, alongside his coach Gervais Hakizimana.
