The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary closure of a section of Mombasa Road from Thursday June 13, 2024 to Sunday June 16, 2024.

In a statement, the roads agency said the affected area will be near Katani Road Junction.

“A section of Mombasa Road near Katani Road Junction will experience traffic disruption along the Mombasa bound lanes.

KeNHA said the move will allow for the construction of the mid-span footbridge foundation.

Some road users however called on KeNHA to carry out road works during the weekend or at night to avert congestion on the route.

“You’re causing unnecessary traffic on a weekday, can’t this be done at night or on a Sunday?” posed a social media user.

The Authority however urged motorists to adhere to the directive with the exercise set to be concluded on Sunday.

“KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with police and traffic marshalls on site,” the statements reads in part.
