The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued another travel advisory to motorists plying along the Meru – Mikinduri – Maua (B102) Road warning them of a second landslide that occurred earlier today.

In a statement, the highway regulator noted that the affected area is currently impassable after a heavy downpour occurred today.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify and caution motorists plying Meru – Mikinduri – Maua (B102) Road of a second landslide that occurred in the aforementioned road section earlier today.

“The affected area, near Maua town, is currently impassable and this is attributed to the substantial rainfall in the region. The public is advised to use alternate routes, to and from Maua town,” KeNHA said.

KeNHA advised members of the public to use alternative routes to and from Maua town in the meantime as the authority works diligently to clear the road and ensure safety of all motorists.

“The KeNHA team is actively on site working diligently to clear the road and ensure safety of all motorists.
Further updates will be provided in due course,” the authority said.

The latest comes barely hours after the authority issued an alert urging motorists to use alternative routes after a landslide covered up a section of the aforementioned road.

In a statement, KeNHA asked motorists to be careful while plying the route assuring them that they were on site clearing the road section.

“KeNHA wishes to notify and caution motorists plying Meru – Mikinduri – Maua (B102) Road of a landslide on the road section which has been occasioned by the heavy downpour experienced in the area,” the authority said.

“The public is advised to use alternate routes, to and from Maua town. KeNHA is on site clearing the road section to restore traffic flow and ensure safety of the motorists,” they added.
