Kenya Airways (KQ) has announced plans to commence daily operations from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to Eldoret’s International Airport.

The airline’s management says the move is part an extensive plan to boost its growing network frequencies.

The move comes as good news to KQ customers operating in western Kenya and neighbouring counties since they will have an opportunity to fly five times a week to Eldoret.

KQ’s Chief Commercial and Customer Officer Julius Thairu said the airline had received requests from customers to extend services to Uasin Gishu.

The maiden trip of KQ flights to Eldoret Airport will begin from March 25, 2024.

“Our focus for FY2024 will be to continue with strategic and targeted growth to meet growing demand as the airline targets bottom line revenue growth. The network expansion is reflective of our mission of propelling Africa’s growth by connecting its people cultures and markets,” Mr Thairu said.

On the same date, the KQ will start its flying to Maputo in Mozambique.

“In response to the steady recovery and demand for air travel, we have expanded our operations with increased frequencies to five destinations within our network expanded our Africa network to Eldoret, Kenya and Maputo, Mozambique.”

Also starting from June 15, KQ will increase its frequencies to New York, offering two additional weekly flights, being on Thursdays and Saturdays.

The KQ is also expected to boost its frequencies to Paris in July 5th with two additional weekly flights.

Additional flights to Paris will be on Fridays and Sundays, which will comes ahead of the expected high demand due to the Olympics in Paris, which will be held from July 26 to August 11.
