Kenya Cup: KCB Roaring Loud Ahead Of Quins Visit To The Den

As Kenya Cup action resumes this weekend after taking a break last week, KCB RFC will take on fourth-placed Kenya Harlequin at the KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka, and assistant head coach Andrew Amonde says his charges are ready for the task ahead.

Amonde says the season has been good for his boys so far, underlining the need to sustain the momentum that has given them a fine sail so far.

“For us it’s just a challenge for the new guys who are playing Quins for the first time; I think the main focus is to keep on with what they’ve been doing, to drive themselves and just to keep their mental strength and keep driving at whatever we want them to achieve as a team.

“We were able to see what they (Kenya Harlequin) are able to do on their best day, so we saw them play Kabras the other time so it’s a plus for us to just focus on the things that we can do better on our side and other things that we can deny them from doing.”

He added: “Having won most of the games the boys are psyched, every challenge that comes their way is an opportunity to learn and I feel everybody is ready to take on Quins over the weekend and it’s a matter of everybody pushing and giving 100% and we will see the result.”

KCB will be boosted by the return of veteran Bob Muhati, Andy Cole Omollo, Wilhite Mususi, captain Griffin Musila and Festus Shiasi and Amonde says he is confident of securing a win.

“Darwin is back now, we expect him to make the squad over the weekend and to bring his experience and lead us to where we want to go. Beating Quins here will be a big boost for the boys as it is not small side. It is an experienced side that has been boosted by some new players from Homeboyz so it’s a matter of just building ourselves and working ourselves out and we expect the boys to go all out and get great experience,” noted Amonde.

It’s an opinion echoed by KCB’s Lionel Ajeleti who says taking on Quin will not be a walk in the park.

“It’s going to be an interesting encounter, I know Quins will give us a show but we are ready to match them up and come out on top. We’ve been working on our weaknesses and also improving on our strengths and we are ready for the weekend. I think we need to seal the game early enough and also prevent them from playing the ball too much.”

After the weekend’s fixture, KCB will face heavyweights Menengai Oilers and Kabras Sugar respectively in their final two Kenya Cup matches.

The Curtis-Olago led outfit are currently second on the log 39 points, behind league leaders Kabras who have garnered 40 points so far.
