Kenya eagerly anticipates the group stage draw of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup

Kenya is eagerly awaiting the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup draw, set to take place on Saturday, June 22, 2024, in the Dominican Republic, where the tournament will be hosted. Kenya’s qualification marks a significant achievement, with the team securing their inaugural appearance on the global stage after impressive victories of 3-0 over Ethiopia and 5-0 over Burundi.

In this eighth edition of the U-17 Women’s World Cup, Kenya will be part of an esteemed group representing Africa alongside Nigeria and Zambia.

Notable participants include former champions Korea DPR, Korea Republic, Japan, and Spain, as well as hosts Dominican Republic, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, England, Mexico, New Zealand, Poland, and the USA.

The tournament will feature 16 teams divided into four groups of four. Advancement to the quarter-finals will be determined by the top two teams from each group, followed by the semi-finals, a third-place match, and the final.

Kenya has been placed in Pot 4 for the upcoming U17 Women’s World Cup draw on Saturday.

• Pot 2: Brazil, USA, Mexico, New Zealand
• Pot 3: Nigeria, Colombia, England, Zambia
• Pot 4: Kenya, Korea Republic, Poland, Ecuador

The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2024 is scheduled to take place in the Dominican Republic from October 16 to November 3. As Kenya gears up for the draw, the Junior Starlets are eager to leave their mark in their debut appearance at the tournament.
