The Kenya Meteorological Department has forecast continued dry, intermittently cloudy and cold conditions across most parts of the country, with only a few regions expected to receive rainfall.
According to the latest weather forecast valid from Thursday, June 18, 9.00 pm to Friday, June 19, 2026, 9.00 pm, showers are likely to occur mainly in the Coast region, while some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley may also experience isolated showers and thunderstorms.
“Dry conditions are expected across the country, with showers mostly over the coast. Intermittent cloudy and cold conditions expected over some parts of the Highlands west and east of the Rift Valley and the southeastern lowlands,” Kenya Met announced.
Regions expected to receive rain
According to Kenya Met, counties in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley, including Kakamega, Kisumu, Kisii, Nakuru, Kericho, Bungoma and Narok, are expected to experience showers and thunderstorms over a few places tonight and in the afternoon after sunny intervals in the morning.
In the Highlands east of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi County, Nyeri, Kiambu, Murang’a, Meru and Embu, partly cloudy conditions with chances of showers are expected tonight. The region is also likely to experience cloudy conditions with chances of rain in the morning before sunny intervals later in the day.
The weatherman also said that the Coast region, which includes Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Lamu and Tana River, is expected to receive showers over a few places in the morning and afternoon, although sunny intervals are expected in between.

Dry and sunny conditions
Meanwhile, north-western and north-eastern regions, including Turkana, Samburu, Marsabit, Garissa, Mandera, Wajir and Isiolo counties, are expected to remain largely sunny and dry.
The south-eastern lowlands covering Machakos, Makueni, Kitui, Taita Taveta and Kajiado are also expected to experience partly cloudy conditions, with cloudy skies in the morning breaking into sunny intervals later in the day.
Strong wind
Kenya Met further warned that strong southerly to southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots (12.5 metres per second) are expected in parts of northwestern, northeastern, southeastern lowlands and coastal counties.
Residents in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley and the Southeastern lowlands should also prepare for intermittent cloudy and cold conditions as the dry spell continues in many parts of the country.
