The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a daily weather outlook from Sunday, 5th October 2025, covering conditions from 9:00 pm that evening through 9:00 pm on Monday, 6th October 2025.

The forecast indicates that several regions across the country will continue experiencing rainfall, with strong winds likely to accompany some showers, with a possibility of floods in some areas.

Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

Rainfall is expected over parts of the Highlands West and East of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the central Rift Valley. Counties in these regions, including Kakamega, Kisumu, Bungoma, Kericho, Nakuru, Eldoret, and Narok, may experience showers and thunderstorms at different times of the day.

In some areas, the intensity of rainfall could lead to localised flooding, especially in regions with poor drainage or along riverbanks downstream from high-rainfall zones.

The Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi County and surrounding counties such as Nyeri, Muranga, Kirinyaga, Embu, and Meru, are expected to have partly cloudy conditions in the evening, with sunny intervals in the morning.

Northwestern counties like Turkana and Samburu are expected to enjoy mainly sunny intervals, while northeastern regions such as Marsabit, Garissa, Mandera, Wajir, and Isiolo will have sunny conditions throughout the day, accompanied by strong southerly winds above 25 knots (12.5 m/s).

The southeastern lowlands, including Machakos, Makueni, Kitui, Taita Taveta, and Kajiado, will also experience sunny intervals, with minimal chances of showers.

Along the coast, counties including Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Lamu, and Tana River are expected to have sunny intervals and occasional showers over a few places in the morning. Strong winds in these areas may damage weak structures, uproot trees, and disrupt power lines.

Maximum temperatures across the country will range from 11°C in Kericho to 36°C in Mandera, while minimum temperatures will range from 12°C in Eldoret to 24°C in Malindi. Sunrise and sunset times vary slightly across the country, with Nairobi seeing sunrise at 06:17 and sunset at 18:24.
