Kenya Pipeline’s bid for a first ever Africa Women’s Volleyball Club Championships title went up in smoke after losing 3-1 to Egyptian giants Zamalek in an entertaining final in Tunisia on Monday night.

The Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) women’s league champions did well to recover their footing in the second set, having narrowly lost 25-22 in the first one.

Coach Paul Gitau’s charges fought back gallantly to win 25-18 in the second set but then the pendulum swung to the other side in third set, Zamalek winning 25-15.

Pipeline, who won bronze at last year’s edition of the competition, were finally put to the sword in the ultimate set, losing 25-17 to walk home with the silver.
